Ladbrokes

Ladbrokes is one of the largest betting companies in the United Kingdom. It has over 2,700 retail betting shops in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Belgium, employing over 15,000 people worldwide.

Established by Messrs Schwind and Pendleton in 1886 as commission agents for horses trained at Ladbroke Hall in Worcestershire, the company adopted the name “Ladbrokes” in 1902. After the legalisation of betting shops in 1963, Ladbrokes established a chain of retail shops and became the first bookmaker to offer fixed odds football betting. Ladbrokes.com, now with over 750,000 active customers, was launched in 2000 and soon followed by Ladbrokes Poker and Ladbrokes Casino.

Ladbrokes PLC is quoted on the London Stock Exchange and is a member of the FTSE 250 with a market valuation of approximately £1.2 billion. The company’s Internet and telephone operations are licensed and operated from Gibraltar.

Betting Coverage

Ladbrokes offers odds on a wide variety of sports and other events. It is heavily focused on UK and Irish horse racing and football betting markets. In terms of horse racing markets, Ladbrokes offers Tote Pools and a range of special bets along with plenty of early ante-post betting markets.

Ladbrokes also provides betting odds for USA and South African racing and a wide range of other sports besides. Markets are as diverse as Bandy to US Harness Racing. Ladbrokes also caters for the special bet and novelty markets, such as “Will it Snow on Christmas Day” and popular television betting opportunities such as the winner of X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing and the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Ladbrokes now offers almost 100 in-play betting markets at any one time with multiple in-play sports events being covered simultaneously.
